Gordon A. Greig, the
son of Maurice and Ellen
(Anderson) Greig was
born on August 20, 1931
in Rugby, North Dakota.
He died at the age of 89
years on Sunday, De-
cember 20, 2020 at the
Heart of America Care
Center in Rugby.
Gordon was raised in
the home of his parents in
Pleasant Lake and attend-
ed Broken Bone School in
Pleasant Lake until the
8th grade. The family
moved to Rugby where he
attended high school, gra-
duating in 1949. He at-
tended the University of
North Dakota briefly be-
fore returning home to
farm and also work at
Texaco. On October 9,
1954 he was united in
marriage to Bernice Har-
mel at Bethany Lutheran
Church in Rugby. Follow-
ing their marriage, the
couple made their home
for the next 47 years near
Pleasant Lake where they
farmed and raised their
family. When he retired
from farming, the couple
moved to Rugby. He
worked for the Towner
Nursery, Johnson Plumb-
ing and the Prairie Village
Museum. Bernice’s
health started to decline,
so Gordon stayed home to
take care of her until her
death in 2010. Gordon
enjoyed fixing old cars,
crossword puzzles, read-
ing, watching the Price is
Right, Jeopardy and
Wheel of Fortune. He
lived a simple, humble
life who treasured his
family, that he was so
proud of.
Gordon is survived by
his children, Randy Greig,
Jeff Greig and Sandi
(Todd) Munyer, all of
Rugby; grandchildren,
Jennifer Hughes, Colin
(Heather) Engel, Nathan
Engel, Amanda (Tyler)
Ohlsen, Cody (Kayla)
Goetz, Tanner (Kelsey)
Goetz, Jason (DelRay)
Goetz, Ashlynn Munyer,
Kris (Roshana) Allred and
Michael (April) Allred; 18
great grandchildren with
one on the way;
son-in-law, Monte (Kath-
leen) Engel of Bismarck;
several nieces, nephews;
other relatives and
friends. He was preceded
in death by a daughter,
Michele Engel; two chil-
dren in infancy; a sister,
Maureen Schaan and his
parents.
Funeral services will be
held at 11:00 a.m. Mon-
day, December 28 at St.
Paul Lutheran Church in
Rugby with burial in the
Persilla Watts Cemetery in
Rugby. Pastor Joshua
Reimche, officiating.
Visitation will be from
5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday
at the Anderson Funeral
Home in Rugby and will
continue for one hour pri-
or to the time of services
at the church on Monday.
