Tudy was born on June
2nd, 1927 in Bisbee,
North Dakota to Adolph
and Lydia (Gottschalk)
Galow. She went to
school at Bisbee Public
School and was raised on
a farm north of Bisbee.
Gert and Tudy were mar-
ried and lived on farms by
Egeland and Bisbee for
many years. They also
lived in Worland, WY for
one winter. She worked at
the Chocolate Shop in
Bisbee and then later as
the Postal Clerk in
Rolette. After working
part time for eight years,
she became the Postmas-
ter in Rolette and worked
for thirteen more years be-
fore retiring. After retir-
ing, they spent seven
winters down in Texas.
They not only were able
to enjoy the warm
winters, but also able to
spend more time with
their oldest son, Gary and
his family who lived
down in Texas.
Both Gert and Tudy
were members of the Mis-
souri Synod Lutheran
Church in Egeland and
Cando until they closed.
They then became
members of the Bisbee
Lutheran Church where
she studied the Bethel
Series for three years and
was a Sunday School
teacher, sang in the choir
and was active in Ladies
Aid.
Over the years, Tudy
traveled and saw a lot of
the United States with her
sister Edna, and some-
times with her sister Iva.
She would bake and
decorate wedding cakes
with Iva. Tudy and Gert
did a lot of fishing with
her brother Alvin his wife
DeLois, and her sister
Edna and her husband
Haakon. She played a lot
of the Buck card game
over the years with Iva
and Hugo Baerwald, and
Harry and Elaine Rinas.
Tudy liked curling, ski-
ing in the ditch behind
horses or vehicles, fish-
ing, and after retirement,
Gert and Tudy liked to
make wooden crafts to-
gether and sell them at
craft sales. Tudy also
liked quilting and made
many quilts and table
runners. She also em-
broidered many dish
towel sets and crocheted
doilies. They moved to
Rolette when Tudy be-
came Postmaster and
were members of the
Ebenezer Lutheran
Brethren Church until
they moved to Rugby in
1999. There they became
members of the St Paul
Missouri Synod Church.
After Gert’s death, Tudy
moved to Fargo into the
same apartment building
where her sister Edna
lived. After Edna’s death,
Tudy moved into Even-
tide Fargo Assisted Living.
She later moved into
Eventide Fargo Nursing
Home, where she lived
until her passing.
Tudy was such a loving
Christian mother, grand-
mother, and great grand-
