Alice Jean Anderson

Alice Jean Anderson,
91, longtime resident of
Rugby, North Dakota died
at Villa Maria in Fargo on
November 25, 2020. Jean
was born on June 28, 1929
to Glenn and Ivy (Hamre)
Dokken in Rugby. She
was raised at Pleasant
Lake and graduated from
Rugby High School in
1947. She worked for
several lawyers in Rugby
and Denver, Colorado be-
fore marrying Carl Victor
Anderson in Rugby on
September 25, 1949.
It was with great pride
that she claimed Rugby as
her home. After a year of
marriage they found an
opportunity to farm and
never looked back. She
was Carl’s support system
in all aspects and they
traveled to Arizona for 40
years following the trap
shooting circuit.
She enjoyed coffee par-
ties with family and
friends. Prior to losing
her eyesight to macular
degeneration, gardening
and yard work were her-
passion. She gave freely
of her time and energy in
retirement. She donated
over 5000 hours of
volunteer service at the
Heart of America Auxili-
ary. She loved her
church, Bethany Lutheran
and was sad to see its
doors close.
Jean is survived by
their children: Karla
(Gerard) Gwost – Har-
wood, North Dakota and
Susan (Jim) Carpenter –
Lake Park, Minnesota.
She leaves 6 grandchil-
dren and 9 great
grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her
husband, Carl on April 2,
2019, her son, Keith on
September 17, 2014, a
grand daughter, Amanda,
and two brothers Paul and
Wayne and her parents.
She was looking forward
to reuniting with her fam-
ily in the surroundings of
Heaven.
A private family ser-
vice was held at the
Niewoehner Funeral
Home on Wednesday, De-
cember 2nd at 11:00 A.M.
with Rev. Sharon Baker
officiating. Jean’s
grandchildren carried her
casket to the burial in
Persilla Watts Cemetery
following the service.
Visitation was on
Wednesday starting at 9
AM until the time of the
service.
All guests must wear a
mask or facial covering
and maintain social dis-
tancing.
