Eva Margaret Heilman,

100, passed away at the

Heart of America Medical

Center in Rugby, North

Dakota one day after her

100th birthday, on No-

vember 21, 2020. She

was born on a farm in Em-

mons County, North

Dakota near Strasburg on

November 20, 1920 to

Melchior and Margaret

Kraft. She was 7th of 16

children. As a young girl

she worked for area farm-

ers. In the late 1930’s she

moved to Pierce County

and met and married

Peter John Heilman in

Rugby on October 28,

1940. They operated

several businesses in Pi-

erce County and in 1963

they moved to Willow

City, where they owned

and operated Pete’s Bar.

She moved to Fargo in

2005 and returned to Rug-

by in 2014.

She was a devoted

Catholic and a member of

Our Lady of Victory

Catholic Church in Wil-

low City , a member of the

Altar Society and the

American Legion Auxili-

ary. She and her family

enjoyed the joy of singing

at their home. Her family

will long remember the

great joy she had in

preparing meals for any

number of family and

guests in her home. In

her spare time she en-

joyed embroidering many

items that she passed on

to her family. Eva was

also a collector of angels

and her children and all

who knew her thought

she truly was an angel.

She is survived by their

children: Roger (Diane)

Heilman – West Fargo;

Rosemarie Armstrong –

Rugby, MaryAnn (Ken)

Bergeron- Phoenix, Arizo-

na; Fred (Heidi) Heilman

– Moorhead, Minnesota;

Mark (Ann) Heilman –

Boise, Idaho; Claude

(Bev) Heilman – Willow

City; Bernadette Johnson

– Fargo; Veronica (Dave)

Biberdorf – Willow City;

and Steve (Becky) Heil-

man – Minot. She also

leaves two sisters:

Phyllis Fischer – Stras-

burg and Walburga (Whi-

tey) Wohl –

Portland,Oregon. In addi-

tion she leaves 22

Grandchildren, 32

Great-Grandchildren, and

13 Great-Great Grandchil-

dren. She also leaves a

sister-in-law and a

brother-in-law.

She was preceded in

death by her husband on

October 4, 2000, two sons,

Donald in 1945 and Bob-

by in 1970, 13 siblings,

and a son-in-law and a

daughter-in-law.

A private family

memorial mass will be

held at the Our Lady of

Victory Catholic Church

in Willow City on Satur-

day, December 5, 2020 at

11:00 A.M. with Rev. T.T.

Paulraj officiating. All

of the grandchildren will

serve as honorary urn

bearers. Burial will take

place at the church

cemetery in the spring of

2021. All guests will be

required to wear a mask

or facial covering and

maintain social distanc-

ing.
