Dorothy Genevieve Gronvold

Dorothy Genevieve Gronvold passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 in St. James Healthcare in Butte, Montana. She was born Thursday, November 15, 1928 in Barton, North Dakota, one of eleven children to Ole and Marie Fosness. Dorothy attended schools in Barton and it was there on November 8, 1947 where she married Randolph D. “Randy” Gronvold. Together they settled in Butte in 1953 and she worked as a licensed practical nurse at Warm Spring State Hospital for 31 years.

Dorothy was a longtime and active member of Gold Hill Lutheran Church. She was a member of The Daughters of Norway, 55 plus and the funeral luncheon committee at the church and the Retired Nurses of

Warm Springs where she was collector of the Top Secret Dues for the Super Bowl Board. She loved to bake and can, especially pickles.

It seemed like she was always on the run and ready to go at a moments notice. She loved to play the Brilliant Bet machines at her favorite casinos. She loved family reunions and attended the Fosness

Family Reunion in Barton, ND in July of 2019.

She was preceded in death by her husband Randy Gronvold, grandson, Cory Gronvold and nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Janette Gronvold and Douglas Gronvold of Butte, daughter and son-in-law, LeAnne and Pete Steilman of Butte, grandchildren: Pete and Eileen Steilman of Butte, Lance and Nichole Steilman of Elko, Nevada, Bonnie and Jason Smith of Toppenish, Washington, Sarah and Dominique Jacques of Las Vegas, Nevada and John and Sara Gilmore of Butte. Also

surviving are ten great-grandchildren, her brother, Einar Fosness of Hobart, Washington, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family in North Dakota as well as countless friends.

With respect to the COVID-19 pandemic, her family has decided to wait until they can be surrounded by all their family and friends to celebrate her amazing life. Her services will be conducted in Gold Hill Lutheran Church and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park and the date and time will be announced as soon as safely possible. Memorials may be made to the Barton Cemetery Fund or the Barton Luth-eran Church, C/O Sheila Harper, 309 2nd St. SE, Rugby, ND 58368 or to Gold Hill Lutheran Church, 934 Placer St., Butte, MT 59701.
