John Lawrence Stevenson, the son of Joel and Marla (Pederson) Stevenson was born on August 17, 1988 in Bottineau County, North Dakota. He died at the age of 31 years on Monday, February 3, 2020 in rural McLean County, North Dakota.
John was raised in Bottineau and after completing his education he joined the National Guard. He started working for Ham’s Well Service of Westhope and later met Kayla Tuenge of Rugby. John and Kayla
were united in marriage on October 24, 2008 in Rugby. He continued working for Ham’s for five years. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Karlie in 2012 and she became his world and light of his life. He worked various jobs in Rugby before going to work for North Country Oil in Parshall as a full-time mechanic and would drive truck when needed. John loved anything to do with a motor and enjoyed demolition derby’s and when he wasn’t working on cars, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a fun loving, goofy, get along with anyone kind of guy and enjoyed people. He will be missed by his wife, daughter, family and friends.
John is survived by his wife, Kayla and daughter, Karlie of Rugby; parents, Joel and Marla Stevenson of Bottineau; siblings, Da-vid (Melissa) Pederson of Gardena, Joseph (Jessica) Pederson of Frederick,
Maryland, Lucas (Erin) Pederson of Bottineau, Matt (Amanda) Stevenson of Bottineau, Sam Stevenson of Willow City, Nicole (Shawn) Wilson of Colorado, Mike and Dennis Stevenson; grandfather, Kenneth Stevenson; mother-in-law, Rhonda Tuenge of Rugby; In-laws; nieces, nephews; other relatives; friends like family, Jerilyn Wilkie and Marc Cohen and many friends. He was preceded in death by his
grandparents, Janet Erdmann and Arlin and Marlene Soland.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Lagor family and the staff of North Country Oil, our words cannot express how grateful we are for all you have done.
Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8 at First Lutheran Church in Rugby with burial in the spring. Pastor Elaine Sveet, officiating and Rev. Gary Dorn, HAMC Chaplain, assisting.
