Raymond Grade, 91, Rugby died on February 1, 2020 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota. He was the son of Gustav and Hulda (Baier) Grade having been born on May 23, 1928 in Granville Township Sheridan County, North Dakota. He graduated from the North Dakota School for the Deaf in Devils Lake in 1949. While he was at the School he excelled in sports and was active in the gymnastic program and other athletic activities. He married Annie May Clark in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on March 22, 1958. They moved to Kief, North Dakota where they farmed and milked cows. They

also farmed near Orrin, North Dakota. They moved to Rugby in 1998. Raymond worked as a CNA at the Good Samaritan Hospital Heart of America Medical Center as a bed-maker for well over 20 years. He was still working only days before he died. Even though Raymond could not hear or speak, this did not hinder him from leading a long life of happiness, joy, and sharing his infectious smile with everyone he met in his long life. He entered the modern age by becoming computer savvy and sending emails and Skyping his family.

He enjoyed fishing, horses, going to threshing bees, playing card games, watching sports on television, and playing jokes on his friends and family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him much joy.

He is survived by his children Rosalie (Gordon) White Virden, Manitoba; Joan (Tim) Mills- Alexander, Manitoba, and Robert (Tina) Grade New Salem, North Dako-ta. He also leaves sisters, Caroline Connell Dickinson and Shirley Baumgartner Haugue, North Dakota and 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie on November 11, 2011, a son, Kerry on November 5, 1984 in addition to brothers Leonard and William and sisters Marion Johnson and Laura Hanenberg.

Memorial services will be held at the Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Rugby on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. Gary Dorn will officiate and Cathy Wissink will be the pianist for the service. The family requests that guests refrain from wearing any kind of scented product.
