Arthur Buchl, 95, of Cando, ND, formerly of Rugby, ND passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Towner County Living Center in Cando. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Friday, October 25, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cando, ND with Fr. Daniel Musgrave celebrating mass. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Music will be provided by relatives of Art’s and the Sacred Heart Choir. Honorary casket bearers will be all of Arthurs nieces and nephews. Burial will take place at the Little Flower Catholic Cemetery in Rugby, ND at 3:00 PM Friday, October 25, 2019. Military

Honors will be provided by the Rugby American Legion Post # 23 and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Little Flower Catholic Cemetery, 218 3rd St. SE, Rugby, ND 58368.

Arthur Buchl was born December 23, 1923 to Joseph and Mary (Volk) Buchl at Harvey, ND. The family moved to Rugby in 1938 where his father purchased the IHC Implement business. Arthur graduated from Rugby High School in 1943 and then enlisted in the army, as a technician, clerk, typist and draftsman. He served in England, Belgium and France, and authorized 5 battle stars. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1945, he attended St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, graduating in 1949. Following graduation, he worked as a bookkeeper for the Buchl Implement Co.

Arthur loved his church and was treasurer for 7 years at the Little Flower Catholic Church. He was also active in the American Legion, VFW organizations and Knights of Columbus. Arthur married his loving wife

Veronica Brady in 1979.

Survivors include his brother Tom (Carol) and sisters Eleanor MacDonnell, Gladys Fluge, Marguerite (Wayne) Freund, brother-in-law Harold Petsinger and sister-in-law Elaine Buchl. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Veronica and family members brothers Joe (Dorothy), Stanley (Kay), Andy, Jim and Robert. Sisters Winifred Petsinger and Irene (Ray) Ratto, brother-in-law Arnold Fluge and Jim MacDonnell.
