Lois Ardell Haagenson

Jan. 11, 1938 – Sept. 13, 2019

Lois Ardell Haagenson, 81, Rugby died on September 13, 2019 at Trinity Hospital in Minot. She was the daughter of G. Emmett and Luella Hilda Saterlie Johnston having been born on January 11, 1938 in Rugby. Lois grew up on a farm north of Rugby and graduated from Rugby High School in 1956. Lois married Milton Duane Haagenson in Great Falls, Montana on March 5, 1959. She and Milton began farming in Rice Township Rolette County soon thereafter. Lois loved the outdoors and enjoyed having a garden and doing yard work. She was known as the “tree lady” by several people in the Rolette community. Milton died on March 9, 2015 at which time Lois moved to the Haaland Estates in Rugby. Here she had plenty of time to make quilts, play cards, including learning to play pinochle, and other games, bake and visit with her many friends and her grandchildren. Formerly, she was a member of the Ox Creek Lutheran Church and its ladies aid and served as a Sunday school teacher. In her younger years she also

served as a 4-H Leader in the community. In recent years she enjoyed Music In the Park in Rugby each Wednesday evening.

She is survived by their children, Linda (Dick) Danielson Humboldt, Iowa; Kristie R. (Damian) Dionne Rolette; and daughter-in-law Natalie Haagenson Minot. She also leaves six grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Danielson, Amber (Brett) Flander, Deidra (Andre’) Boucher, Dillon Dionne, and Melora and Melaina Haagenson. In addition, her brothers, Duane (Janet) Johnston Rugby and David (Carole) Johns-ton Fargo and sisters Amy Ford Great Falls, Montana and Linda (Ardell) Halvorson Ft. Collins, Colorado and sisters-in-law Judy (Delvin) Van Beek Linton; Carol (Neil) Wenburg Fargo, and Marilyn Christensen Eugene, Oregon, and many nieces and nephews survive her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Mark on October 26, 2009, her parents, brothers-in-law Cliff Ford, Steve Christensen, Lyle Haagenson and sister-in-law Esther Haagenson.

Visitation was at the Niewoehner Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7 P.M.

Funeral services were held at Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church in Rolette on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 10:00 A. M.

Burial followed at Ox Creek Lutheran Cemetery rural Rolette.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Ox Creek Cemetery Association or Heart of America Hospice.
