Steve J. Selzler, 86, Harvey, ND died on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND. Visitation was at the church on Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a rosary prayer service at 7 p.m. also at the church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Steve Jacob Selzler, the son of August and Emilia (Held) Selzler, was born June 22,1932 at Velva, ND. At an early age he moved with his parents and siblings from Velva to Martin and later to the rural Anamoose area where he grew up and attended the White Township School. On October 20,1953 he married Ann Bachmeier at the Fulda Catholic Church. They purchased the family farmstead near Martin and farmed until 1996. While farming was his passion and life’s work, he also collected tractors. He enjoyed traveling south to Mercedes, Texas during the long winters for 17 years. He also loved playing golf and he spent a lot of time fishing. He enjoyed gardening, playing horseshoes and cards with family and friends. He loved spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Steve was a former member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Anamoose until moving to Harvey and then he became a member St. Cecilia Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus and
was a long-time member of the Harvey Eagles Club. He served six years as supervisor for the Pierce County Soil Conservation board and received the Soil Conservation award for 1994.
Steve is survived by his wife Ann; children; Ron (Pauline) Selzler of Knox, Don (Tonja) Selzler of Bismarck, Duane (Chris) Selzler of Clermont, Florida, Elaine (Steven) Mitzel of St. Cloud, MN, Clinton (Debbie) Selzler of Harvey, Sheila (Mike) Senger of Rugby, Kenny (Cindy) Selzler of Harvey, Steve Allen Selzler of Harvey; 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; 4 brothers; Daniel (Darlene), Easton WA, Aloisius
‘Woody’ (Kathy) of Anamoose, Arnie (Nancy) of Harvey and August Jr. (Tora) of Mandan; 4 sisters; Edith Schuelke of Fort Myers, Florida, Caroline Bachmeier of Bonney Lake, WA, Virginia (Alfred) Feichtinger of
Tacoma, WA and Reannie May of Anamoose.
