Helen Lois Belland, age 94, of Moorhead, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019, at her home. Helen was born June 13, 1924, in Ladysmith, WI., to Harold and Palma Willard. Shortly after her birth, the little family moved back to Rolette County, ND, where her brother, Donald and sister, Delores were born. During the depression, the family moved to southern Missouri where many of her fondest memories were formed. Upon their return to North Dakota, they settled in Rugby where Helen attended Rugby High School and graduated in 1942. After graduation, Helen moved to Fargo where she attended Interstate Business College and went on to work at Tollefson Insurance Agency until 1946. In August 1946, she married Harold T. Belland. They raised three children: Elizabeth, Shirley and Bradley.
Helen was first a mom and homemaker. She was an avid gardener, talented seamstress and a volunteer at Minnesota State University Moorhead, Regional Science
Center participating in the winter bird counts. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Sons of Norway. Helen was also very active in the DFL party in the 60’s and 70’s. Harold, Helen and the kids took car trips every summer. She grew to love traveling taking car trips all over the country with her sis-ter, Delores and son, Brad and Alaska and Norway with her daughters.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Donald and former husband, Harold.
She is survived by sister, Delores of Kalispell, MT; son, Brad of Fargo, ND; daughters, Elizabeth (Robert) Juran of Hugo, MN, Shirley (Joel) Heiligman of Plymouth, MN;
grandchildren, Guy (Kelly) Juran of Shoreview, MN, Amy Juran of Hugo, MN, Heather (Stuart) Prudden of Minnetrista, MN, Scott Heiligman of Naples, FL, Sarah (Rob-
bie) Goldfarb of Baltimore, MD; great-grandchildren, Lucy and Henry Juran, Jack and Andrew Prudden, and Ariel Goldfarb.
She also leaves many special cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Memorials preferred to Lost & Found Ministry of Moorhead.
Visitation was Friday, February 15, from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Interment was at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
