Jeryl William Harmel, known to his many friends as “Jerry”, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018, at the age of 72 years at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, North Dakota. Jerry was born January 17, 1946 to Erik and Lena (Hilton) Harmel in Rugby North Dakota. Jerry was raised on the family farm in east rural Rugby. In Jerrys early years, he developed a passion for the outdoors. Jerry loved hunting, fishing, trapping, camping and everything that comes with it. He also loved his garden
especially his tomatoes. Jerry was a 29-year veteran of the Rugby Police Department and served two years on the City Council.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Harmel of Knox; daughter Jan (Bob) Voeller of League City, Texas, son Eric Harmel of Williston and daughter Trica Mueller of Rugby; a sister Lois Larson of Palmdale, California; 7 stepchildren; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ronald and Donald; wives, Victoria and Bonnie Harmel.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 18th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Rugby. Pastor Joshua Reimche officiate.
