Dwight L. Liming

Dwight L. Liming, 84, Rugby, ND, the son of Charles B. and Mary Ellen (Hamilton) Liming, was born on August 22, 1933 in Rugby, ND. He died at the age of 84 on Friday,
March 23 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, ND with his children by his side.
Dwight was raised in the home of his parents in Rugby, ND. On June 7th, 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged after his tour of duty in June of 1954. After his discharge, he enrolled in Moler Barber College, Fargo, ND. He married the love of his life, Bertha Elaine Volk, on January 24, 1955. They made their home in Fargo, ND while he went to college. After Fargo they lived in New Rockford and Towner until he joined his father, Charles “Barb”, and his brother, Neil, at the Sportsman Barbershop in Rugby, 1962. He later started his own barbershop and served on the ND Barber Board for 12 years, won Barber of the Year in 1971-1972, and retired from barbering in 2002. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Clarence E. Larson American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans Service Officers Association and the NRA. Dwight was one of the first people to serve on Rugby’s Auxiliary Police Department. He proudly served military veterans as the Pierce County Service Officer for 37 years, received a plaque in 2005 for 50 years in the American Legion and also helped out Bottineau County for a period of time. He served as President of the ND Veteran Service Officers Association in 1981-1982.
Dad loved and lived life to the fullest, always looking to help others and telling an occasional story and joke, or two. He enjoyed shooting pistols and teaching hunter safety to others, bowling and dancing with his wife. Later in life, you’d see Dad and Mom driving around town in his red pickup.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bertha, son, Dwight (Fargo, ND), daughters Laurie (Jim) Stadum and Elaine (Byron) Nilsen, both of Rugby; 5 grandchildren,
Justin Liming (Las Vegas, NV), Vanessa (Kellen) Summers (Omaha, NE), Erin Martinez (Dallas, TX), Jacob Stadum (Sante Fe, NM) and Patrick Stadum (Grand Forks, ND): 1 great grandson, Noah Martinez (Dallas, TX); sisters, Maxine (Lee) Albrecht of Oconomowoc, WI, Verda Jonson of Kalispell, MT, Nancy (John) Keller of Hudson, FL and Suzanne (Bradley) Harmel of Franktown, CO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Valerie: sisters Sharyl Lubbers and Verna Olderbak; brother’s Neil Liming and Charles Liming, and grandson, Anthony “Richie” Liming.
