Rose (Bachmeier) Weigel

Rose (Bachmeier) Weigel, was born on September 7, 1918 in the Round Lake Township, McHenry County of her parents, Phillip and Julianne (Ochs) Bachmeier. Rose was the eleventh child of seventeen children. She died at the age of 99 years on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.
Rose was reared on the family farm and received her education in the Round Lake district and helped with the family chores. On October 13, 1937 she was united in
marriage to Emil Weigel in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Orrin, North Dakota. The couple made their home, raised their family, farmed and ranched on their farm, one-mile Northeast of Orrin. Due to health concerns, Rose and Emil moved to the Eastside Apartments in February of 1996. Emil died February 9, 1999.
Rose was a former member of the Sacred Heart Church, its Altar Society and Christian Mothers. While living in Orrin, she enjoyed membership in the Orrin Home Makers Club, and the Kraft & Koffee Club. When her children were of school age, she was very active in the PTA. After moving to Rugby, Rose and Emil joined the
Little Flower Catholic Church. Rose loved flower and vegetable gardening, craft work and quilting. Family history was important to her as she put many hours into
research and collecting family history. She enjoyed cooking various German dishes and baking. Her first paying job was at the Rugby Sale Barn Cafe` in 2001 and at
the age of 83 years, she worked at the Haaland Estates from 2002 to 2006.
Survivors include 3 children, Edward of Utah, Harold of Kenmare and Pamela (Rodney) Schmitt of Orrin; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great-great
grandchild; one sister, Magdalena of Bismarck; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil; two daughters, Marlys and Juliann; granddaughters, Holly Marie Weigel and Charity Ann Schmitt; great-grandson, Preston Noble Peterson; 7 brothers, Felix, Sebastian, Ber-
nard, Frank, Anthony, Peter and Joseph; 8 sisters, Frances, Anna, Barbara, Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret, Katherine and Eva; and her parents.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28 at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Orrin. Father Tom Graner, Celebrant and Father Brian Bachmeier, Concelebrant.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday with a Rosary and vigil prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby. Visitation will continue from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. No reviewal at the church.
