Funeral services for Dennis Rosenau, age 81 of Upham, were held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Upham, ND. Officiating at the service the Reverend Daryl Rothchild. Cheryl Niewoehner was the organist and the congregation sang selected hymns. Casket bearers were Nathan Hooker, Rickie Rosenau, Dillon Rosenau, Lee Amon, Ken Niewoehner and Brad Trebas. Honorary casketbearers were Dennis’ granddaughters, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Dennis Rosenau son of Erick and Valeria (Trebis) Rosenau, was born on May 30, 1936 at Minot. He grew up near Upham and attended country school and worked on the family farm. He joined the National Guard in 1954 and served in Troop 818 until 1963. On June 2, 1957, he married the love of his life, Phyllis Olson at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church near Upham. They had two children, Richard and Pamela.

Dennis hauled gravel to build the Minot Air force Base along with ranching and farming.

Dennis had a pilots license and owned his own plane for 40 years. He stayed active with the Bethlehem Church serving on the board and working in the men’s groups. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, camping, flying R/C airplanes and recently a drone. His greatest joy was spending time with

his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dennis passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017 at a Rugby hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis; son, Richard Rosenau of Upham; daughter, Pam (Ken) Hooker of Rugby; sister, Joyce (Oscar) Mireles of Corvallis, OR;

grandchildren, Nathaniel Hooker of Fargo, Jessica (Leon) Helland of Mandan, Erick Richard “Rickie” (Brooke) Rosenau of Upham, Dillon (Nicki) Rosenau of Upham and

Madeline Rosenau of Grand Forks; great grandchildren; Hudson, Kade, Ryder and Abbey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Diane Rosenau.
