Richard Erickson

Oct. 6, 1964 – Mar. 7, 2017

Richard ‘Rick’ Erickson, the son of Norman and Sharon (Amon) Erickson was born on October 6, 1964 in Minot, North Dakota. He died at the age of 52 on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at his home of natural causes.

Rick was raised in Minot and graduated from Magic City Campus High School in 1982. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Kristi (Brossart) Erickson on October 17, 1987 at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. The couple made their home in Rugby and raised their daughter Kali. Rick was known as a hardworking

business man in the community as the co-owner/owner of the Napa Auto Parts store for approximately 30 years. In his younger years, Rick had a need for speed

partaking in drag racing, jet skiing and cruising the lake in his speed boat. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Whether it was chasing out the big buck, calling in a flock of geese, or reeling in the whopper walleye he enjoyed it all. In his later years, him and his wife appreciated a more relaxed lifestyle of pontooning around lake Upsilon and fishing for Bluegill off their dock. After mourning his wife’s death, Rick had a renewed passion for collecting firearms and classic vehicles. He had planned on obtaining a dealership license to sell these vehicles in the Rugby area but unfortunately did not have the chance. Rick was the kind of individual who would help out any friend or family member in time of need. He was a very trusting man who gave much more than he ever expected in return. He was loved by many and will be missed.

Rick is survived by his daughter, Kali and her husband Cody Mattson of Bismarck; granddaughter, Malia Mattson of Bismarck; grandson Brayan Mattson of Bismarck; grandfather Stanley Amon of Rugby; parents Norman and Sharon (Amon) Erickson of Rugby; brothers, Mike Erickson of Minot, Stephen (Kim) Erickson of Minot, and Sandon Erickson of Rugby; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; grandparents Edward and Lucille Erickson; grandmother Marie Amon.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 15th at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with spring burial in the church cemetery. Father Tom Graner, Celebrant.
