Tami Kitzman

July 30, 1967 – Feb. 21, 2017

Tami Lee Kitzman, 49, of Leeds, ND, passed away February 21st, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. Tami was born July 30, 1967 in Devils Lake, ND to Thomas and Mary Lou (Schiele) Leppard. She was raised on their family farm south of Leeds. She attended school and graduated from Leeds in 1985. Following graduation, she married Rob Nelsen that summer. They lived in Leeds, and she was a stay at home mom for many years before starting work as a paraprofessional at Leeds School. Tami obtained her Paralegal Certificate and shortly after she started to volunteer on the Leeds Ambulance Service. She worked her way through the various steps and wanted to continue her work in EMS, so she obtained her Paramedicine degree through Bismarck State College on June 15, 2004. She loved helping others; it was a passion of hers. She was a very giving individual who would help anyone in need at any time. She devoted many hours to teaching EMS, as well as, giving her time to her community through the Leeds Ambulance Service. Tami was employed at the Minot Air Force Base through a contracting company for the last 12 years and was employed there until the time of her passing.

On July 25, 2008 she married Tony Kitzman. They shared their home in Leeds. Tami and Tony taught EMS classes through their education company, North Country EMS Education. Both Tami and Tony gave much of their time and devoted themselves to their community through the Leeds Ambulance Service and taught many people over the years.

Tami’s greatest joys in life were her children and her favorite little boy, Kyler. Her only grandson was her pride and joy. They always told one another they loved each other ‘to the moon and back.’ Tami was known for her famous French Toast – her kids lived for it!
