Alma Mae Hale died November 25, 2016 at the Golden Living Center Nursing Home in Delano, Minnesota. Alma was born May 3, 1935 in Westhope, North Dakota to Leslie & Olive (Cull) Hale. She was the youngest of six children. She attended school in Westhope and Minot until

her family moved to Rugby where she graduated from Rugby High School in 1953.

Upon high school graduation, Alma worked at C&G Furniture & Hardware in Rugby. In 1959 she began her banking career working at Citizens State Bank, Rugby.

She retired in 1995. At the time of her retirement she was an assistant vice-president and cashier. She was extremely proud of her career accomplishments which in-

cluded completing courses in Bank Administration in Madison, Wisconsin and being elected in 1977 as President of the regional chapter of the National Association of Bank Women. She served her community by serving as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Persilla Watts Cemetery and also the Rugby Community Ambulance for many years.

Her most important role was her love of family. Alma, along with her sister Jean, raised their niece Jeanne Hale from the time she was two years old. Alma was a second mother to Jeanne and was very proud to be a part of her life.

Alma developed an interest in various hobbies such as hand-painting ceramic figurines and pieces. She was also an excellent wood worker and enjoyed refinishing

furniture. She was an avid and competitive canasta card player for many years.

She is survived by her niece Jeanne Duchscher (Tim), Maple Lake, Minnesota, her great-niece Cynthia Olsen (David) Westchester, Illinois, Christopher Duchscher

(Joanna) Buffalo, Minnesota and great-great nephew Jackson Duchscher, Buffalo, Minnesota. Alma was an aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt to many nieces and

nephews. She was very proud of all of them.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Annabel Shelton, Harvey Hale, Jack Hale, Jean Hale and Bill Hale.

Funeral services will be held at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Rugby on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Nathan Steen officiating

and Barbara Lee as pianist. Burial will follow in Persilla Watts Cemetery in Rugby. The casketbearers will be Chris and Tim Duchscher, Ross McDougall, Barry Medd,

David Olsen, William Parker, and Claude Zweber

Visitation will be at the Niewoehner Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-7PM.
