Peter Schall, age 91 of Harvey left his earthly home on September 7, 2016 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home to the waiting arms of our Lord God and to be rejoined with his true love, Katherine.

Peter Paul Schall was born October 13, 1924 in Berwick, ND to Nick and Elizabeth (Kuntz) Schall. His twin brother Nick Jr. was born minutes later. His other brother was Michael. He grew up there and attended rural school. Their mother died at an early age and they stayed to help on the family farm. Peter joined the army air corps in 1945. He served with the 47th Fighter Squadron in the Pacific. In November 1946 he was honorably discharged and received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and Victory Medal.

Peter met the love of his life Katherine Dosch and they were married on October 10, 1949 in Harvey. They were blessed with seven children and were very proud to have raised them all in Harvey. In November 1949 Peter attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton, taking up the electrical trade. He graduated in May 1951.

He joined Arnie Helland working as an electrician in Fessenden, ND. In 1958, he started his own

electrical business, “Pete’s Electric” and moved the business to Harvey in 1964.

Peter was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church. He was always there to lend a hand when needed. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Harvey Council No. 5217, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly 1549 of Harvey and served as Grand Knight. He was also a 54 year volunteer of the Harvey City Fire Department. Once it became known he was a great cook he became the head cook for the department meetings and annual picnic. Peter was a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie #3080, serving as Past President and Trustee. He was inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame in April 2010. Peter’s charity held dear to his heart was the Home On The Range at Sentinel Butte, ND of which was the recipient of many fund raisers under his lead at the Eagles Club. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters serving as State Chief Ranger. He was a life time member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Harvey. Over the years he attended many conventions representing each of these originations. Peter loved gardening and canning with Katherine. It seemed each year a little more of the yard became garden! Many secret recipes were created.

Left to mourn his loss are children, Renee (Roy) Kringstad, Drayton, ND, James (Judy) Schall, Woodbury, MN, Ronald Schall, Stockton, CA, Joann (David) Seltvedt, Harvey, Kathy (Albert) Wentz, Bismarck, and Annette Schall, (Kevin Wanzek) of Windsor, ND; 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; twin brother Nick, Jr, Rugby.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Katherine who died on May 27, 2014; a son, Timothy Peter who was lost to crib death on June 14, 1960; brother, Michael; granddaughter, Danielle Bruner; sisters-in-law Ann Schall and Lillian Schall.

Although we would have loved to keep him here with us forever, it gives us great peace to know he is once again rejoined with mom. He was never afraid for the day

when his Lord would call him home. He always told his children, “We are born to die.” How blessed he was in his lifetime. View online condolences at www.hertzfuneralhomes.com
