Mildred Nelson, 101 passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Maryhill
Manor in Enderlin, North Dakota.
Mildred V. Messersmith was born on April 17, 1915 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Grace and Ralph Messersmith. She moved to North Dakota with her family in 1924. She attended elementary and
high school in Knox, North Dakota. Mildred married William Rudolph in 1933 in Rugby, North Dakota. He passed away in 1970. She married Leland Nelson in Wolford, North Dakota in 1976. He
passed away in 2007.
Mildred was the postmaster in Wolford, North Dakota for twenty three years. She was very active in community affairs for both Wolford and Rugby. Mildred was active in the North Dakota League of Postmasters, the Pierce County Council on Cancer and the Commission on Aging. She also served on the Martha and Dale Hawk Museum Board.
Mildred is survived by her children, Walter (Marjorie) of Lakewood, CO; William (Sandra) of Fessenden, ND; Marlene (Burton) Jacobson of Peoria, AZ; Kenneth (Valerie) of Enderlin, ND; Roger (Renita) of Thomas, OK; step-children, Linda (John) Everson of Devils Lake, ND; Jon (Shirley) Nelson of Rugby, ND; Marilyn (DeeDee) Nelson of Minneapolis, MN; fifteen grandchildren; four-
teen great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane Book of Mesa, AZ and Ida Shipton of Gwinner, ND.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, William Rudolph and Leland Nelson and brother, John Messersmith.
A celebration of Mildred’s Life will be held at a later date.
