Dean Leonard Fosness, the son of Leonard and Ruth (Ness) Fosness was born on June 3, 1953 in Rugby, North Dakota. He died at the age of 63 years on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Vibra Hospital in Mandan, North Dakota.

Dean was raised in the home of his parents, baptized at Barton Lutheran Church, confirmed at First Lutheran in Willow City and graduated from Willow City High School, the class of 1971. On March 6, 1976, he was united in marriage to Audrey Miller at the First Lutheran Church in Willow City. Dean was a lifelong rancher and farmer in the Barton and Willow City areas. He was a member of Barton Lutheran, the Willow City Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Marker Lutheran Cemetery Board and the Wellington Township Board, where he served as Supervisor until this past year. Dean was an avid deer hunter, a cattleman always, enjoyed driving the country side, prized his cows, and loved his family, especially the grandkids that melted his heart.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey; two daughters, Master Sgt. Lisa Marshall and her husband, Capt. KC Marshall of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Robyn Atkinson and husband, Bradley of Willow City; a son, Alan Fosness and Andrea Schmitt of Barton; grandchildren, Jason Atkinson, Riley and Chloe Marshall and Drake and Nova Fosness; two sisters, LouAnn Getzlaff of Minot and Julene Krout of Lafayette, North Carolina; a brother, Jerry Fosness of Minot; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son in infancy; and his parents.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 20th at the Barton Lutheran Church in Barton with burial in the East Barton Cemetery. Pastor Elaine Sveet, Officiating
