Raymond Scheet

Aug. 20, 1933-April 11, 2016

Raymond Scheet, 82, of Great Falls, MT, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 11, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 15th at 11:00 a.m. in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home. Rev. Deacon Robert Ferguson, officiated.

Born August 20, 1933 in Balta, ND to Xavier and Christine (Hager) Scheet, Ray grew up in Rugby, where he attended school with his ten brothers and sisters. He married Lorraine Demko, and although this union ended in divorce after 21 years, they were blessed with a son, Randy. He met Marilyn Johnson and they were together until his death.

Ray joined the Army and fought in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he became a lineman for Montana Power. When he was laid off for a time, he worked laying floors, until he was employed by AT&T. He worked there for 24 years before an injury forced him into an early retirement.

A lifetime member of Elks Lodge #214, Ray loved to bowl and play cards. He was an avid fisherman and outdoor sportsman. Ray and Marilyn danced their way around the country, hitting every state and Canada. Marilyn liked to cook, and Ray liked to eat! He loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. His personal license plate “Junker Ray” spoke volumes about his love for garage sales. He was a collector of everything, and his friends would often put him to task finding them a specific item. The garage was his personal domain.

Ray is survived by his wife, Marilyn Johnson, Great Falls; son, Randy Scheet, Manteca, CA, step-sons Marty Johnson, Great Falls and Raymond Johnson, Stevensville; sisters, Magdalena Sitter and Joan Marie, Rugby; Sister in-law Marie, Minot; brothers, Gabriel, Rugby, Albert (Marie) San Diego, CA, Francis (Arless) Coeur d’Alene, ID; 24 nieces and nephews, numerous cousins; three

step-grandchildren and six step-great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sis-ters, Rosemary, Susan and infant Linda Mae; brothers, Daniel and Dennis.
