Clifford Schneider

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 2, 2016, in Louisville, Ky., for Clifford Schneider, 80, Louisville, formerly of Orrin, who died Feb. 27, 2016.

Clifford was born March 10, 1935, in Orrin, a son of Willie & Odella (Schafer) Schneider. He was raised and worked on the family farm. He served two enlistments in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he worked in Minot for several years before moving to Louisville, where he was employed for 30 years with the U.S. Naval Ordinance.

He is survived by seven sisters, Ramona Schmitz, Harvey; Ann Hager, Rugby; Marie Gefroh, Minot; Stella Schiele, Bismarck; Yvonne Strauss, Green Bay, Wis.; Martha Fennewald, Witchita, Kan.; Virginia Davy, Valley City; brother, James, Bismarck.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents; brothers, Edwin, Rev. George, Jerome; sister, Bonita Schmitz.

Kathy Schneider

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 2, 2016, in Louisville, Ky., for Kathy Schneider, who died Tuesday, March 1.

She is survived by aunts, Ramona Schmitz, Harvey; Ann Hager, Rugby; Marie Gefroh, Minot; Stella Schiele, Bismarck; Yvonne Strauss, Green Bay, Wis.; Martha Fennewald, Witchita, Kan.; Virginia Davy, Valley City; Marie Sveum and Dian Stirling; uncle, James, Bismarck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford & Barbara Schneider.

Ronald Harmel

Memorial services were held Thursday, March 17, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rugby for Ronald Erick Harmel, 82, who died Saturday, March 12, at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.

Ronald was born Dec. 21, 1933, in Rugby, a son of Erick & Lena (Hilton) Harmel. He was raised on the family farm in Meyer Township, and worked there after completing his education. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1955, serving in the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge, he returned to work on the family farm. On Oct. 31, 1966, he married Marie Kitzman in Tioga. They made their home in Rugby until they moved to rural Barton in 1974. They moved to the family farm in 1990 and he continued to farm until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife; daughter Kaye, Denver, Colo.; son, Jay, Bailey, Colo.; four grandchildren; brother, Jerry, rural Rugby; sister, Lois Larson, Palmdale, Calif.; in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald; brother-in-law, Gene Larson; stepmother, Eleanor Harmel; his parents.

Pastor Joshue Reimche officiated. Music was provided by Dianne Montonye, organist, and Steve Mueller, soloist.

Martin Trottier

A family service was held in Belcourt for Martin R. Trottier, 69, who died Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.

Martin was born on July 21, 1946 in Belcourt, a son of Fred George Slater and Violet Trottier-Frank. He was raised by his grandmother, Mary. On July 26, 1968 he married Linda Rae Holum. They made their home in St. John for a number of years before moving to Rugby. He worked as a roofer; and for the Boilermakers Union, Turtle Mountain Manufacturing and Rugby Manufacturing as a welder.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Tina Trottier, Shauna Trottier-Belgarde, Bradley Trottier and Eric Trottier, all of Rugby; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Elaine, Julie and Lloyd, all of Devils Lake; Evelyn, Minneapolis, Minn.; Eileen, Cando; Della, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Hal “Poncho”; his parents; and other relatives.
