Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Haaland Estates Chapel in Rugby for Victor Buchta, 101, who died Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.
Burial will be in the spring at Persilla Watts Cemetery in Rugby.
Victor was born Sept. 7, 1914, on the family farm near Harlow, a son of Andrew & Mary (Parolek) Buchta. He was raised on the family farm and educated in the Harlow area. After completing his education, he started his farming career doing custom combining in Oklahoma. He worked his way north back to North Dakota. On March 1, 1954 he married Clara Freehauh in Valley City. They made their home in the Harlow area and farmed until retirement in 1975. They moved and made their home in Rugby. He had a custom thrashing business in his later years.
He worked and volunteered with the Prairie Village Museum for 12 years.
He is survived by nephews, Donald and Duane Buchta, both of Leeds; several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; infant brother; three brothers; six sisters.
Pastor Sharon Baker officiated. Music was provided by Pam Anderson, pianist.
Casketbearers were Anthony Thompson, David Erie, Donnie and Duane Buchta.
