Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church for Bernard Leroy Benson, 85, Rugby, who died Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, in a Minot hospital.
Burial will be in Persilla Watts Cemetery.
Bernard was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Rugby, a son of Carl John & Signe Marie (Mattson) Benson. He graduated from Silva High School in 1949. He began farming in Elverum Township after high school and continued farming for the rest of his life, raising livestock and grains. On June 1, 1954, he married Arlene Elizabeth Jemtrud in Mylo.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Silva until its closure, and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; children, Brian, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Kathy, Justin, Texas; Margie Geffre, Crete; Leroy, Minneapolis; Dean, Farmington, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence, Rugby; Kenneth, Moorhead, Minn.; sister, Vi Rice, Peoria, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Leslie*.
Wally Fretland will officiate. Music will be provided by Barbara Lee, organist.
Casketbearers will be Jordan Geffre, Nathaniel Goodfellow, Todd Lysne and Drew, Jeff, Jonathan, Luke and Paul Benson.
