Daniel Kallenbach, 61, of Esmond, ND, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2:00PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Esmond, ND with Pastor Harold Ovre officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock, ND from 5:00PM to 7:00PM with a 7:00PM Prayer Service. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Esmond, ND. Casket Bearers will be Dave, Jamie, Jaden, Kirby Kallenbach, Nick Knudson and Evan Kuehn. Honorary Casket Bearers are all of Daniel’s nieces and nephews. Music will be provided by Jim Kuehn, Pastor Ovre, Paula Duren and Hailey Kallenbach. The Eulogy will be given by George Kallenbach. The Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock is in charge of arrangements.

Daniel John Kallenbach was born July 23, 1954 in Maddock, ND to John H. and Gloria (Lamen) Kallenbach. He was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Esmond, ND. Daniel attended elementary schools in Isabel, Hesper and Maddock, ND. He graduated from Maddock High School in 1972 and attended NDSU in Fargo, ND. He farmed, milked cows and fed beef cattle.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Esmond, ND, served on the MN Select Sires Board of Directors and was a member of the Maddock A.S. Gibbons FFA Chapter where he received his State Farmer Degree. He received high individual in the World Dairy Expo Classification Contest while attending college. He was also a member of the NDSU Team Makers.

Danny had a love for football, gardening, his mother’s flowers, hunting, fishing and farming (especially combining). He was an avid NDSU football fan, cheering on the Bison for his final time from his Grand Forks hospital bed. He also enjoyed attending his nieces and nephews sporting events. He had a special place in his heart for each of his nieces and nephews and frequently gave them advice, whether they wanted it or not. He was proud of having a Godchild, Jaden.

Daniel is survived by his mother Gloria of Esmond, ND; siblings: Jeff (Shirley) Kallenbach of Dickinson, ND, Candace (Shawn) Knudson of Esmond, ND, Tim (Kris) Kallenbach of Maddock, ND, Jack (Shelly) Kallenbach of Esmond, ND, Mark (Tracy) Kallenbach of Maddock, ND and Jan (Jim) Kuehn of Prior Lake, MN; nieces and nephews: David (Avin), Patrick, Kevin (Kellie), Joseph and Korey Kallenbach; Nicholas (Tonya), Trevor and Matthew Knudson; Kasey (Jennifer) and Kirby Kallenbach; Karlee (Tim) Oksendahl; Jamie and Kara Kallenbach; Jaden, Hailey, Brady and Camryn Kallenbach; Aaron, Evan, Ethan, Adam, Andrew, Alexander, Zachary, Hope and Luke Kuehn; great nieces and nephews: James and Annabelle Kallenbach; Kambree, Kyler and Karver Kallenbach; Cole and Alonah Knudson; Ryan Kallenbach; Peyton Oksendahl.

Daniel was preceded in death by his father, John H. Kallenbach; paternal grandparents, John G. and Anna Kallenbach and his maternal grandparents, Morris and Jeanette Lamen.
