Margaret Cecilia (Bachmeier) Brossart, the daughter of Joseph A. and Katherine (Schmidt) Bachmeier was born in the rural Fulda, North Dakota home of her parents on June 14, 1924. She died at the age of 91 years on Sunday, October 25, 2015 in the care of her family and hospice at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.
Margaret was reared in the home of her parents and received her education in the German Country School #4 near their farm. On June 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to Joseph A. “Joe” Brossart at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Fulda. The couple made their home, raised their children, farmed and ranched on the Brossart Family Homestead in East Barton Township, Pierce County for 28 years. Deciding to semi-retire, the couple built a new home in 1975 across the street from the Little Flower Catholic Church. While Joe kept farming with his sons until his death on February 9, 1991, Margaret was busy taking care of their home, keeping an eye on her ever growing family and coddling the grandchildren. She had a “green thumb” with flowers around her home. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, ceramics, making rosaries, sewing, quilting and her most favorite was collecting seraphim angels. Her love for flowers took her to the Rugby Greenhouse where she worked during the planting and growing seasons for 5 years. Margaret was a longtime member of Little Flower Catholic Church, the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the Rosary Club and Ministry of Prayer.
