Dorothy Miller

Funeral services for Dorothy Miller, age 87 of Willow City, were held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church in Willow City. Officiating at the service was the Reverend Linda Wimmer and Wally Fretland. Martha Larson was the organist. Casket bearers were Dorothy’s grandsons: David Miller, Mark Miller, Alan Fosness, Ryan Heilman, Shane Heilman, Derek Miller, Jared Miller, Chris Setterstrom and Kage Miller. Burial was at the Memorial Park Cemetery near Willow City.

Dorothy Miller, a daughter of Oscar and Sanna (Wekseth) Vikan, was born on July 26, 1928 at Bottineau. She was raised there and graduated from Bottineau High School in 1946. She then attended the North Dakota State School of Forestry in Bottineau. She then worked at North Central Electric. On December 20, 1950, she married Hubert Miller at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. They made their home on a farm near Willow City. Dorothy worked as a teachers aide and she also did all the bookkeeping for Miller Trucking Service. In 1980, she began working for the Bottineau County Social Service Office as a homemaker health aide. They moved into Willow City in 1981 and Dorothy retired in 1995. On May 14, 2006, Hubert passed away. Dorothy moved to Bottineau in 2010.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Willow City where she was also active in the WELCA. She was also a member of the Pleasant Hour Club in Willow City.

Dorothy passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 in a Minot hospital.

She is survived by sons, Wayne and his wife, Cathy of Westhope, and their children, David and Mark; Dennis and his wife, Marilyn of Rugby and their daughter, Emily; Bruce and his wife Patty of Bottineau, and their children, Derek, Jared and Brooke; Keith and his wife, Hiedi of Minot and their children, Hope and Kage; daughters, Audrey and her husband, Dean Fosness of Willow City, and their children Lisa, Robyn and Alan; Beverly and her husband, Claude Heilman of Willow City and their children Ryan and Shane; and Jana and her husband, Aaron Wynn of Allen, TX and her son, Christopher; sisters, Evelyn (Arvel) Mettler of Minot, Carol Tilton of Topeka, KS and Delores Belter of Springfield, IL; brother, Virgil Vikan (Janice) of Visalia, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
