Howard Lashman

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 12, 2015 at the Presbyterian Church in Towner for Howard Lewis “Cricket” Lashman, 72, who died Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Trinity Medical Center in Minot.

Burial was in Union Cemetery, Towner.

Howard was born July 23, 1943 in Rolla, a son of William & Anna (Lazier) Lashman. He was raised in his parents’ home in the rural Bantry-Towner area, starting school at the Red Cross country school and finishing at Towner High School. On Aug. 31, 1961 he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged Aug. 30, 1963. In June 1964 he married Helen Due at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Willow City. In November 1982 he married Cynthia Woodall. Both marriages were dissolved. He worked for many years in construction and in the oil field.

He is survived by his children, Terri Morgel, Portal; Tami Petersen, Minot; Gregory Lashman, Minot; Kelly Ostenson, Jamestown; Beverly Beeter, Upham; and Brittany Lashman, Burlington; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Frounfelter, Granville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Martha Rom

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dillon Ostenson; brothers, Charles, Sherman and William; several nieces and nephews; his parents.

Pastor Don Andrews officiated.

Casketbearers were Derrick Dixon, Bob Hertz, Dean Iverson, Larry Norsby, Matthew Petersen, Bob Kuhnhenn, Frank Bachmeier and Bernard Edwardson.

Martha Rom

Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner for Martha Albrecht Rom, 88, Rugby, formerly of Towner, who died Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby.

Burial was in Union Cemetery, Towner.

Martha was born May 25, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wis., a daughter of Mathias & Christine (Jaeger) Albrecht. She moved with her family to Fulda in infancy and attended rural school there until she was 12. The family moved to a ranch south of Towner and she completed her education at Towner High School. Following high school she moved to Minot. On May 3, 1947 she married E. Vernon Rom in Hope. They farmed on the Rom family ranch in rural Denbigh. She worked as a teacher’s aide at the Karlsruhe School. In 2009 she moved into Towner. In 2014 due to declining health she moved to the Haaland Estates in Rugby, and later moved to the Care Center.

She was a member of the Prairie Rose Homemakers, St. Peter & Paul Christian Mothers, Towner Card Club and Tuesday Quilters.

She is survived by her children: Wayne, of Minnesota; J. of Denbigh; Lindsay Rom, of Colorado; Marilyn Stein, Sawyer: Tim, Pennsylvania; Yvonne Drader, Towner; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Claude Albrecht, California; Vic Albrecht, Oregon; David Albrecht, Missouri; Matt Albrecht, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Delton Schultz, Florida; sister-in-law, Vera Rom Nelson, Denbigh; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Christopher; siblings Evelyn Schultz, Christina, Daniel, Raymond, Jerome, Richard and Linda Albrecht.

Fr. Michael Schommer officiated.

Casketbearers were David Rom, Radigan and Ray Neuhalfen, Nathan Johnson, David and Matthew Drader. Honorary bearers were Katherine Becker and Michael, Weston, Wyatt, Jen and Corey Rom.

Kelley Hamilton

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at First Lutheran Church in Rugby for Kelley Charles Hamilton, 69, who died Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.

Burial was in Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby.

Kelley was born June 23, 1946 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby. He was reared in his parents’ home. After completing his education at Rugby High School he attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. On Sept. 23, 1972 he married Ilene Opstedal. They later dissolved their marriage. He was briefly married to Gail Lashman.

He was a member of the Barton Sportsman Club.

He is survived by his children, Mark, Rugby; Renee Lietzke, Dickinson; Rochelle Castor, Fargo; Charles Hamilton, Rugby; Travis Hamilton, Rugby; Julie Hamilton, Rugby; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pastors Mike Pretzer and Sharon Baker officiated.

Casketbearers were Christopher, Andy and Jaden Hamilton, Preston Vetsch, Ryan and Trevor Rustad. Honorary bearers were all grandchildren.
