Duane Edward Voeller, the son of Edward and Margaret Axtman Voeller, was born on November 15, 1940 in Rugby, North Dakota. He died on September 10, 2015 at Klinikum Bogenhausen in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
Duane was raised in the home of his parents. He attended Little Flower School, Rugby High School, North Dakota School of Forestry, Iowa State University and George Washington University (Washington D.C.) He earned a B.S. Degree in Physics and did additional course work beyond his baccalaureate.
Duane’s career included a position of Physicist at Harry Diamond Ordnance Fuze Laboratories from 1962-1967 and Defense Intelligence Agency from 1967-77 in the Washington, D.C. area. In 1977, Duane was appointed to the position of Staff Physicist (Nuclear), Navy Liaison Unit, Munich, Germany. He retired in 1993 and continued to live in the Munich area until his death.
On December 28, 1978 Duane and Helga Hielscher were married. Helga passed away in September, 2014.
Duane was deeply involved in listening to various types of music on his very sophisticated sound system, savoring wine from his extensive collection, concocting delicious meals and riding his bicycles.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Helga.
Duane is survived by two brothers, Donald (Christine) in Hot Springs Village, AR and David (Jean) in Rapid City, SD; two nephews, Mark in Pewaukee, WI and Robert in Munich, Germany and sister-in-law, Margot Stroklund in Munich, Germany.
Interment will be in Fiedhof Unterhaching, Unterhaching, Bavaria, Germany.
