Ellen Gronvold of Orlando, Florida passed away peacefully in a Winter Park nursing home on July 15, 2015. She was 99.
Ila Ellen Lund was born on April 24, 1916 in Steele, North Dakota, the daughter of O. B. Lund and Jessie (Sears) Lund. She graduated from Bismarck High School and attended Valley City State University and the University of North Dakota where she met her husband, A.F. Gronvold. They married on September 16, 1935 in Aberdeen, SD. They settled in Rugby, where Mr. Gronvold was an automobile dealer, farmer and state senator. They moved to Orlando in 1975.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, her parents, and brothers Donald and William, who was killed in action in World War II. She is survived by son Bill and his wife Marion; niece Dianne (Tom) Pearman of Burnsville, MN; and grand-nieces Denise Porter and Sarah Shanks and their families. She is also survived by Elizabeth Duchscher of Rugby, a special friend of the Gronvold family since 1947.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that a memorial be sent to the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, Box 5007, Minot, ND 58702.
