Eileen Mae McClintock, 83, died July 7, 2015 , peacefully at her home in Rugby surrounded by her family.
Eileen was born in Williston and raised at Zahl, North Dakota, being born on May 29, 1932 to Eugene Marble and Selma Aleda (Hanson) Olson. She was the salutatorian of her class of 1950 at Zahl High School. She continued her education at Minot State Teachers College where she earned a Standard Teaching Certificate. She moved to Rugby in 1952, and taught at Ely Elementary School. On July 20, 1954 she married John C. McClintock in Rugby. After raising their family, she reentered the workforce as the School Secretary of Rugby High School for many years. Eileen was a dedicated volunteer of the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and was recognized with a 2000 volunteer hours award. She also served on the original board of the auxiliary to develop a hospice program in Rugby.
Seeking a career change in the late 1980’s, she graduated from Josef’s School of Hair Design in Minot and worked at the Hair Company in Rugby for 10 years. She was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church for many years. She enjoyed her family and grandchildren, sharing coffee and cards with her friends, travel, and spending time at the family cabin at Lake Metigoshe.
She is survived by her son, John C. McClintock, Jr. – Rugby and her daughter, Marilyn and her husband Jeff Ames Williston, grandchildren Shelley Windley, Michael, and Richard Sarzynski, Brett, Brooks, Alex, and Jack McClintock and great grandchildren Leah and Connor Windley will all miss their grandmother, Eileen. She also leaves a sister, Helen Carlsen Olympia, Washington, a sister-in-law Esther McClintock, and her cousin Floyd Olson She was preceded in death by her husband, John on July 11, 1994 and their daughter, Maureen (Mo) Maetzold on June 28, 1986.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rugby.
The family invites all of her friends to visit and reminisce with them at Eileen’s home at 313 3rd Street South West on Thursday July 9th from 5:00 P.M. until 7 P.M. Interment will take place at Persilla Watts Cemetery in Rugby at 10:00 A.M. on Friday.
Memorials are welcomed to the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and Heart of America Library.
