Diane Tandeski

Diane Evonne (Butts) Tandeski, the daughter of Laverne and Sylvia (Logason) Butts was born October 31, 1937 in the rural Esmond home of her parents. She died at the age of 77 years on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in her home in Rugby, North Dakota, in the care of her family, niece Linda Peterson and hospice.

Diane was reared in the rural farm home of her parents near Esmond and graduated from Maddock High School, the class of 1955. On October, 28, 1957, she was united in marriage to Frank Tandeski at St. Williams Catholic Church in Maddock. The couple moved to Tioga, North Dakota where Frank was working in the oil fields, a short time later they moved to Stanley when Frank took employment with the Lake Region CO-OP. In 1960, Frank was transferred to Rugby where they made their home and raised their son. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Diane also worked outside the home for Haaland Estates as a CNA retiring after 17 years of service. Diane and Frank purchased property east of Rugby in 1978 where they then made their home.. Frank died March 10, 2005. Diane continued to live on the farm after Frank’s death for another 3 years and then moved to Devils Lake. She returned to Rugby in June of 2014. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and the greatness of being outdoors.

Survivors include one son, Brad (Karen Chandler) of Rugby; two granddaughters, Bobbi (Carl) Schaan of Rugby and Chelbie (Kenny) Bohl of Knox; four great-grandchildren, Alek, Kage and Kenna Schaan and Mason Bohl; two brothers, Donald Butts of Egeland and Rick (Sherry) Butts of Nisland, South Dakota; one sister, Donna King of Devils Lake, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Leon and Lynn Butts; a sister, Cheryl King; and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12th in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel, Rugby. Burial will be in the St. James Catholic Cemetery, Minnewaukan at 1:30 p.m.. Father T.T. Paulraj, HGN, officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday with a parish vigil service and sharing of memories at 7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Funeral Home, Rugby. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.

Casketbearers: Donald Butts, Rick Butts, Gary McCloud, Alek Schaan, Kelly King, Carl Schaan, Schawn McCloud and Kenny Bohl.
