Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Selz for Edward Roerick, 84, rural Harvey, who died Wednesday, April 1, at St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Edward was born Aug. 19, 1930 on the family farm west of Esmond, a son of Anton & Josephine (Mosset) Roerick. On Nov. 21, 1951 he joined the Army, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 18, 1953, and returned to farm with his father for a short time. On June 22, 1954 he married Lyla C. Kjetlien in Rugby. In 1958 he moved to a farm in southern Pierce County, where he farmed and operated a dairy. He also worked for Souris River Telephone for several years.
He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Selz and Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Esmond.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Lynda Mack, Fargo; Karen Muscha, Harvey; sons, Gary, Curtis and Robert, Rugby; Richard, Allen and Mark, Harvey; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; sisters, Delores Wentz, Esmond; Agnes Evensen, Fargo; Betty Roerick, Kerrville, Texas; brother, Joseph Roerick, Seattle, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kent; grandson, Steven; brothers, David and Theodore; sister, Eva Kraft.
