Andrew Axtman 88 of Harvey died Thursday March 19, 2015 at the Trinity Hospital of Minot. Funeral services will be held at the St. Anthony Catholic Church of Selz on Tuesday March 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.

Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Prayer service will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Selz.

Andrew was born on the family farm near Selz on March 9, 1927. He was the son of August and Barbara (Leboldus) Axtman. He grew up and attended rural school in Hagel Township. Andrew married Anne M. Wack on October 14, 1956 at the St. Anthony Catholic church in Selz. They built a small farm east of the homestead. Andy the bought the homestead in 1957. He built a grade A dairy barn and milked cows until 1981. Their son Jerry took over the dairy. Andy retired from grain farming in 1991. Andy was a seed dealer for over 50 years for Cargill and other companies.

Andy was named outstanding young farmer in 1962 by the Harvey Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was elected to the Pierce County ASC committee in 1978 and 1979. He served as the Hagel Township supervisor, on the Selz School Board, and the rural fire department for over 50 years and was a lifetime member. He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic church, and the Wells Eagles Aerie 3080 where he was president and a trustee at one time. Andy was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the St. Anthony Foresters of Selz where he served as chief ranger and trustee for the state.

Andy is survived by his wife, Anne of Harvey; sons, Jerry (Darlene) of Harvey, Randy (Rosalie) of Harvey, Terry (JoAnn) of Fargo, Glenn (Rhonda) of Fargo. 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, August of Maddock, Wayne of Seattle, Charles of Jamestown; sisters, Lillian Keller of Minot and Barbara Stredwick of Minot. Andy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leonard, James; sisters, Christine Thomas, Kathleen Westbrook, Marion Carrejo.
