Phyl Schmidt

Funeral mass was held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Bozeman, Mont. for Philipine “Phyl” (Volk) Schmidt, who died Wednesday, March 4.

Interment was in Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Phyl was born July 20, 1917 in Berwick, a daughter of Joseph & Regina (Schneider) Volk. On Sept. 20, 1937, she married Nick Schmidt at St. Anselms Catholic Church in Fulda. They briefly lived in Billings, Mont., before moving to Bozeman in 1960, where they owned and operated the Dairy Queen there.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Ralph Schmidt, Rugby; Sylvia Heit, Arvada; Mary Ann Tucker, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Ken Schmidt, Belgrade; Joe Schmidt, Grand Forks; Patty Schmidt, Bozeman, Mont.; Linda Heil, Bismarck; Shirley Francisco, Bozeman, Mont.; Dee Schmidt, Bozeman, Mont.; Jerry Schmidt, Bozeman; sisters, Dorothy Wilden, Michigan; Regina Binfet, Rugby; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Anton, John, Peter, Philip and Casmer; sister, Rose Wald; granddaughter, Toane Rae Klein.
