Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot for Donald L. Christianson, 72, Minot, formerly of Bottineau, who died Friday, Feb. 20.
Interment will be at a later date at Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot.
Don was born April 28, 1942 in Bottineau, a son of Freeman & Grace (Reibel) Christianon. He was raised and educated in Bottineau, graduating from high school in 1960. He attended the ND School of Forestry, and enrolled at Minot State University after graduation. On June 4, 1964 he married Carol Barbot at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Bottineau. He began his career teaching English and coaching basketball at various high schools in North Dakota and New Hampshire. In 1971 he enrolled at North Dakota State University to complete a Masters in Education degree. He later continued his career as a Superintendent and English teacher within various school systems. In 1982 he and Carol moved to Rugby, where they owned/operated theaters in Rugby, Cando and Harvey, a drive-in in Rugby, and apartment/house rental properties in Rugby and Minot. In 1991 they moved to Minot, where they owned and operated Arrowhead Laundromat, in addition to their apartment rental business.
He is survived by his wife, Minot; children, Mike Christianson, Burlington; Rob, Minot; Joanne Hulm, Minot; Katie Christianson, Fargo; Stephanie Clark, Minot; 14 grandchildren; two great-granchildren; brother, Jim Christianson, Fargo; sister, Karen Matthies, North Platte, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy; infant sister, Sharon; mother and father-in-law, Phyllis & Henry Barbot; brothers-in-law, Roland Beaver, George Erdmann and Darryl Barbot.
