Howard Larson

Howard Dean Larson, the son of Edward Peter and Helen Julian (Eikeness) Larson was born on May 23, 1936 on the family farm north of Berwick, North Dakota. He died at the age of 78 years on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

Howard was raised on the family farm and educated in a country school a mile east of the home farm. On November 25, 1960 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Rose Jundt in Towner, North Dakota. Following their marriage, they made their home in Rugby for almost a year and then moved to Leeds for 3 years. After that they moved back to Rugby where they raised their three children. Howard worked as an auto mechanic in Rugby including having his own business called Howard’s Repair. He was still working on some small engine up until he went into the hospital. He used to drive a race car at the Rugby Speedway for several years. He was a member of the Rugby Eagles Club and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He enjoyed camping and they went to the lake most weekends during the summer months.

Howard is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Susan (Todd) Bischoff of Fargo, Karen Larson (Jim Hill) of Rugby and Richard (Karla) Larson of Rugby; grandchildren, Kelly (Ray) Enebo, Tracy Bischoff, Christy Bischoff, Lindsay Bischoff, Todd Bischoff Jr., Cody (Renee) Slaubaugh, Shawn Slaubaugh, Leighton Larson, Keaton Larson and Kiara Larson; great- grandchildren, Javin, Kadin, Jacoby, Raiden and Kealan; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond, Leonard, Bertrand and Elmer Larson; and his parents.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31st at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Rugby with spring burial in the Little Flower Catholic Cemetery. Pastor Dana Holter, officiating.
