Gloria was raised in the home of her parents on the eastside of Milwaukee with her older sister, Loraine and younger brother, Jerome. She graduated from Riverside High School in Milwaukee in 1940. She was very artistic and learned to sew and crochet from her mother who was a seamstress. Before she had a sewing machine, Gloria made hand sewn clothes for her own daughters and their dolls. The couple had a small farm in North Dakota until 1947, when they decided to move to Milwaukee. She loved children, when he niece (her Goddaughter) returned to work, she babysat for her two children and they adored their ‘Auntie Glorio’. After Darvin’s retirement, they moved back to the family farm to live fulltime. While living on the farm, Gloria loved to watch the birds and other wildlife. She lived to plant flowers in her garden and did a lot of canning of vegetables from their garden. Darvin died on December 25, 2012. Gloria made many friends during the time she lived in North Dakota and was loved by all. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, homemaker and friend.
