Visitation for Maurice J. Larson, 85, a resident of Davenport will be today (Friday), December 26, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St. downtown Davenport. Funeral Service for Maurice will be held at Anderson Funeral Home, Overly, N.D. with burial at Willow Creek Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.

Maurice died Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was born May 6, 1929, in Overly N.D., the son of Clarence and Esther (Pick) Larson.

Maurice graduated from North Dakota State University, Fargo N.D. with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He was united in marriage to Margit Teigen on July 15, 1956, in Rugby, N.D.

As a young man he enjoyed carving wood planes and ships. Later he enjoyed traveling and flying as a private pilot with the Rock Island Arsenal Flying Club and at Straley’s Flying Service. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as an Engineer in 1993.

Maurice was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Davenport.

Survivors include his wife Margit, Davenport; a daughter, Col. Ruth Larson, United States Air Force Reserves (Ret.), Bowie, Md; sons, Lt. Col. Craig (Bonnie) Larson, United States Air Force (Ret.), Edmond, Okla, and Sgt. Mark (Janice) Larson, United States Army (Ret.), Orange Grove, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Kenneth, Amy, Melissa and Chad; and a sister Leila Lehmann, Rugby, N.D. and 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter Karen Larson. May they rest in peace.
