Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby for Victoria “Vicky” Lee Harmel, 65, Rugby, who died Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Sanford Care Center in Fargo.

Burial was held after the service at Little Flower Catholic Cemetery in Rugby.

Vicky was born Feb. 20, 1949 in Devils Lake, a daughter of John & Bernice Hilzendager. She was raised in Rugby, graduating from Rugby High School in 1967. She furthered her education at Minot State College and a beauty school in Omaha, Neb. She married Jeryl Harmel, and they lived in Omaha before returning to Rugby in the 1970s. In September 1983 she, Phyllis Johnson and Kathy Paulson established Worn-A-Bit on Main Avenue in Rugby. Vicki operated the store until she sold it to Mark & Dianne Carlson in 1990. She also worked in several businesses in Rugby, including Dakota Eye Institute, Rugby Greenhouse and the Heart of America Library.

She was a former member of the Rugby Lions Club, Catholic Daughters of America, Rugby Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce and Literary Club.

She is survived by her mother; children, Jan Voeller, Houston, Texas; Trica Mueller, Rugby; Eric Harmel, Williston; sister, Beverly Feuling, Arlington, Texas; half-sister, Barb Mellum, Fargo; sister-in-law, Susan Hilzendager, Fargo; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; special friend Roger Sitter.

She was preceded in death by her father; brother, John “Butch”.

Father Thomas Graner officiated. Music was provided by Dan Nybo, organist, and Steve Mueller, vocalist.

Casketbearers were Jeff & Barb Bercier, Jerry & Kathy Blessum, Mark & Phyllis Johnson and Joe & Janelle Tuchscherer.
