A mass of Christian burial was held Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond for Louis Arnold, 78, Esmond, who died Saturday, Dec. 6, at St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey.
Burial was in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Esmond.
Louis was born June 11, 1936 in Rolette, a son of Leonard & Doris (Mongeon) Arnold. He attended Rich Valley School and graduated from Benson County Ag School of Maddock. He furthered his education at Minot State University and NDSU. He served in the U.S. Army. On May 20, 1961 he married Helen Schmidt in Harvey and started farming in Impark Township. They moved to Esmond in 2012.
He was a member of the Benson County Water Board, ND Barley Council, ND Grain Growers, US Feed Council, NW Research Center Board, Minot, Carrington Research Center Board, Esmond Elevator Board, Esmond Community Development Board, St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Esmond Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Robert, Minot; William, Esmond; Thomas, Parker, Colo.; daughters, Denise, Aurora, Colo.; Ann Linden, Coon Rapids, Minn.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Helaine Arnold, Fargo; Margaret Sanders, Sioux City, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dennis and Raymond.
Father Brian Bachmeier officiated.
