Sylvia Ann Axtman, born February 20, 1930 in Rugby, ND, passed away on November 3, 2014 at Harborview Hospital in Seattle, WA with her loving family at her side. Sylvia married Leonard Axtman on November 4, 1948. Sylvia and Leonard were married until Leonard’s death on November 1, 2013. Sylvia and Leonard farmed in North Dakota for eight years. They moved to Monroe, WA the Fall of 1959. Sylvia was a beloved mother, homemaker and also worked outside the home. Sylvia began working at the Monroe Golf Course on April 27, 1965. Sylvia and Leonard were eventually Co-Owners of the Monroe Golf Course from 1976 to 1995.

Sylvia was a long time member and past president of Monroe Cascade Aerie #2327.

Sylvia is survived by her loving family and friends; sons, Randolph Axtman, Duane Axtman, James Axtman (Virginia), Christopher Axtman (Geraldine), and John Axtman (Tamara); brother, James Hager (Francis); 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Sylvia was preceded in death by her Husband, Leonard Axtman; parents, Anthony and Gertrude Hager; siblings, Donald Hager, Theodore Hager, Raphael Hager; daughters, Antonette Axtman and Leonita Miller; two infant sons and granddaughter Kimberley Axtman.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 11, with a Rosary at Purdy & Kerr with Dawson Funeral Home, 409 W. Main St., Monroe. A funeral mass celebrating Sylvia’s life was held on Wednesday, November 12 at St. Mary of the Valley Catholic Church, 601 W. Columbia St., Monroe. Memorials in her name may be made to St. Mary of The Valley Catholic Church.
