Hygenus ‘Gene’ Kunnanz, 79, Renton, Wash., formerly of Rugby, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Seattle.
Burial with full military honors was at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash.
Gene was born May 31, 1935 in Selz, a son of Frank & Frances Kunnanz. He served in the Army from 1954 to 1956. He married in 1958 and reared five sons in Rugby. He worked for Gronvold Motors/Rugby Motor Co. for over 20 years. He later moved to Everett, Wash., where he was employed by Boeing for more than 25 years and was recognized with numerous awards and achievements.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the American Legion.
He is survived by his brother, Arthur, Bismarck; sister, Eleanor, Redwood City, Calif.; sons, Rodney, Douglas, Kevin and Steven, Renton, Wash., and Jeffery, Woodinville, Wash.; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Emmanuel, Herman, Ralph, Ernest and David.
