Funeral service was held for Robert “Bob” Hurdelbrink of Minot at First Lutheran Church in Minot on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014. Bob died Aug. 13 in his home. Pastor Ken Nelson was the officiant. Nancy Silliman gave the eulogy. Casketbearers were Mona & Curtis Jorgenson, Sharon & Virgil Potter, Merle and Wally Schmidt, Marie & Don Richardson, Phyllis & Bob Loomis, Clarice & Darrell Bernsdorf and Amy & Scott Bickler. All Bob’s family, friends and members of the many organizations he served in were honorary pallbearers. Eric Furuseth was soloist, and Rita Sundahl was accompanist/instrumentalist. Interment was in Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot.

The Thomas Family Funeral Home of Minot was in charge of arrangements.

Bob was born Nov. 20, 1923 in Sherwood, the son of George & Maurine (Fuller) Hurdlebrink. He was raised and educated at Sherwood and Eden Valley rural schools in 1942. He was united in marriage to Cora Lunde on Nov. 25, 1944 in Bottineau.

In 1942, Bob began employment with the Great Northern Railroad. He and Cora made their home in various North Dakota communities, including Sherwood, Leeds and Devils Lake, while he was with the railroad.

Bob was a member of First Lutheran Church in Minot. He taught Sunday School and served on the church councils in Sherwood and Leeds. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, NARVRE, Golden K Kiwanis Club, Order of Railroad Telegraphers, and Moose Lodge. He was a former member of the Minot Elks and Eagles Club, played in the Elks band, and served on the Leeds and Sherwood school boards. He was an avid coin collector, golfer and pinochle player. He liked entertaining with his musical instruments and trick rope for reunions and gatherings.

Bob’s family includes his wife of nearly 70 years, Cora; daughters, Nancy (Robert) Silliman, York and their children Randy (Brenda) and their children McKenzie and Joey, Timothy (Susie) and their boys Wyatt, Ethan and Garrett; Debra Pierson, Fargo, and her children Emma (Duane) Broe and Jordan Pierson; June Kraft, Minot, and her children Jennifer (Jason) Jenssen and their daughter Cadence, Kendall (Carrie) Schieve and their daughters Bevin and Claire; siblings, sister, Marilyn Carter, Sherwood; brother, Max Hurdelbrink, Minot; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Hurdelbrink, Dallas, Texas; Viola Richardson, Hebron; brother-in-law, Wayne Lunde, Franklin, Wisc.; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant great-grandsons, Carson and Colton Silliman; brothers, Burl (Grace) Hurdelbrink, Ben (Dottie) Hurdelbrink, Bill and Cloyd Hurdlebrink; sisters-in-law, Nona Hurdlebrink, Linda Lunde and Della (John) Nelson; brothers-in-law, Carlin Carter, Howard (Evelyn) Lunde and Orville Richardson; special aunt Emma Hurdelbrink.
