Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Rugby for John Blaine “Jack” Harkison, 85, Rugby, who died Aug. 5, 2014 at Trinity Medical Center in Minot.
Burial was in Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby.
Jack was born Oct. 16, 1928 in Rugby, a son of Charles & Jennie (Grove) Harkison. He was raised in the home of his parents and received his education in Rugby. A member of the National Guard, he was activated on Jan. 16, 1951. He served in occupied Japan and was honorably discharged on Oct. 26, 1953. Following his discharge, he returned to Rugby. He worked road construction for a time, and then did custodial and maintenance work for the Pierce County Tribune and North Central Printing for many years.
He was a member of the Clarence Larson American Legion Post #23 and First Lutheran Church in Rugby.
He is survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Denneth Harkison; sister, Avonne Jaeger.
Pastor Mike Pretzer officiated. Music was provided by Pam Anderson, organist. Military honors were accorded by the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Detail and the Clarence Larson American Legion Post #23 Honor and Color Guard of Rugby.
