Ernest Dean Gingerich, 76, Wolford , died July 28, 2014, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.
Ernest was born to Aaron and Mattie Bontrager Gingerich in Rolette, North Dakota on April 27, 1938. He grew up in the Wolford area and attended Scotchblock School. He married Joy Lucille Graber at the Lakeview Mennonite Church at Wolford, on October 14, 1960.
They lived in Sarasota, Florida for 3 years where he worked as a carpenter. They returned to the Wolford area and farmed in Union Township Pierce County until 1992. He operated Gingerich Trucking, hauling grain for local elevators until the time of his death. He was an active member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Rugby where he served on the church board. He also was a member of the National Rifle Association. He loved the outdoors while he was hunting and fishing. He also enjoying growing flowers and vegetables in his perfect gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Joy, and their children Scott and his wife Laura Gingerich Grand Forks; Gayle and her husband Douglas Craik Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Chantel Gingerich Devils Lake. He also leaves grandchildren Dagny and Nixon Hilton and Kiefer, Kyler, and Kelby Gingerich and step-grandchildren Ariana Anderson, Jarad and Nicholas Craik. He also leaves 3 brothers, Vernon, Aaron, and Orlin Gingerich all of Sarasota, Florida and 3 sisters, Iona Slaubaugh Wolford, and Ilene Bannon and Lana Lengacher both of Sarasota, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Leona, and brothers, Rueben and John.
Casketbearers will be: Douglas Craik, Kelby, Kiefer, Kyler Gingerich, Dagny Hilton, and James Klayson.
Visitation will be on Friday at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Rugby from 5-9 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM.
Family committal service will be at the Lakeview Mennonite Cemetery at Wolford at 9 AM on Saturday, August 2nd.
Please join the family for a Celebration of Life Service at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Rugby on Saturday, August 2nd at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Nathan Steen and Rev. Douglas Gingerich will officiate. Music will be provided by Rev. Kevin and Monica Anderson, Nixon Hilton, and Marlene and Dennis Fred and Arlene Johnson.
