Funeral services were held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Towner for Lynda Kay Smith, 71, Towner, who died July 27, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Berwick.

Burial was in Union Cemetery, Towner.

Lynda was born on Oct. 8, 1942 in Rugby, a daughter of Hawthorne & Delores (Stenson) Follman. She grew up in the Towner area, graduating from Towner High School in 1960. On April 15, 1961 she married Murdick “Bud” Smith in Berwick. In 1965 she graduated from Josef’s School of Hair Design in Minot. She operated Smith Country Beauty Salon, west of Towner, until 2002, when she retired.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and a charter member of the Towner Women Investment Club.

She is survived by her husband; children, Rhonda Black, Towner; Jodi Mongeon, Berwick; five grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Kongslie, Towner; brothers, Roy and Steve Follman, Towner.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dave Follman.

Rev. Linda Wimmer and Wally Fretland officiated. Music was provided by the church choir.

Casketbearers were Levi, Lizzy and Luke Black, Toby Kongslie, Kelsey and Tyler Mongeon.
