Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Ladbury Funeral Service in Dickinson for Clinton E. Rierson, 81, Dickinson, who died Friday, June 6 at St. Luke’s Home. A memorial service will also be held tomorrow, sunday, June 22, at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rugby

Burial was in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.

Clinton was born September 29, 1932, in Strongs Prairie, Wisc., a son of Gerhardt & Mary (Voeller) Rierson. The family moved to Silva. He worked on the farm with his farmer, and he also worked for other area farmers. He moved to Bottineau and Harvey, working for an implement dealership before moving to Gladstone. In January 7, 1952 he married Alice Goldade in Montana. He served in the US Army from January 1953 to December 1954. In 1980, he moved to Dickinson. On November 25, 2003 he married Mavis Rixen in Manning. In 2012 he moved to Rugby, and in 2014 returned to Dickinson to live in the St. Luke’s home.

He is survived by his wife, Mavis, Rugby; children, Cynthia Tully, Piedmont, S.D.; Judy Harrington, Dickinson; David Rierson, Wichita Falls, Texas; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister, Marcella Risovi, Harvey; brother, Robert Rierson, Oregon City, Ore.; numerous nieces, nephews and stepchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary; brother-in-law, Ray; son-in-law, Jim Harrington; aunts and uncles; great-granddaughters, Kimberly and Joshalynn.

Deacon Ralph Stockert officiated. Military honors were provided by the Dickinson Honors Team.
