Pearl Vestre

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Townsend, Mont. for Pearl Guttromson Vestre, 92, Townsend, Mont., formerly of Esmond and Rugby, who died March 21, 2014.

Burial will be in Deep Creek Cemetery.

Pearl was born May 21, 1921 in Esmond, a daughter of Olaf & Anna Guttromson. She went to school at Isabel grade school near Esmond and graduated from Esmond High School. She entered the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Rugby, graduating as an RN in 1942. She attended the ND State Teachers’ College in Valley City, and then graduated from a two-year Bible course and one-year mission course at the Lutheran Bible Institutes of Seattle, Wash. and Minneapolis, Minn. In 1951 she received a call to be a missionary nurse at the Lutheran Mission Hospital in South Africa. She served there from 1952-1958. On October 15, 1960 she married Nels Vestre of Wildrose. They lived in Tacoma, Wash., Fargo and Townsend, Mont.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law and by over 20 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister, Edith Nelson; brothers; sisters-in-law; brother-in-law, Fred Nelson; and nieces and nephews.
